My 97 Chevrolet Malibu was having issues with the theft system, which my mechanic informed me could only be dealt with by a Chevrolet dealer due to the programming issues surrounding it. I made an appointment for Nov 14th 2008 with Smith Chev Olds in Kamloops B.C. and informed them I would also need winter tires installed and that my car would be going to the coast so the work needed to be completed by that day.

2 Days before my car was due to be in the shop, I went into the dealer to ask if they could also do an oil change. They informed me that would be no problem, yet my car took an extra day because they were "backed up". I had my husband pick my car up the following day and bring it back to Ashcroft, which is an hour away. When I got my car, I noticed that the oil change wasn't completed, so I called and was informed they had no recollection of me ever asking for it, yet I physically went there and had the lady at the service desk enter the request into the work folder.

I did not find this to be a huge inconvience, so disregarded it and took my car to a drive-in oil change shop once I arrived in Maple Ridge B.C. While my oil change was being completed on Nov 25th 2008, I was informed by the mechanic that 2 of my brand new $500.00 were low on air. Upon finding this very odd for the short amount of time I had driven my car since the dealership serviced it, I decided to take my car to a Kaltire service shop to have my tires looked at.

On Dec 1st 2008 the Kaltire mechanics informed me my tires weren't balanced, and that the original valve stems were still in, indicating corners were "cut" in the work done on my vehicle. I called Smith Chev Olds to inform them that because of the not only the warranty, but also due to the cheap work done on my car, I needed to be reimbursed for the total cost of 4 new valve stems, the balancing of my tires, and the remount totalling $114.02.

Smith Chev Olds informed me they did do the balance, but I argued that they didn't because of the fact that they didn't even put new valve stems in which are supossed to be included with the purchase and install of new tires, as well the fact that my oil change was completely "forgotten". They quit arguing with me and asked that I fax them them the paperwork for the work done by Kaltire. I had Kaltire fax Smith Chev Olds my reciepts that evening.

I called back in the morning, and was told that the sevice mechanic would call me back a.s.a.p. I never recieved a call back, so I called back 2 hours later. I was told once again that everyone was busy and to further wait. The next day I called back and informed the reception that I would wait on hold because I was tired of waiting for a call back. I ended up talking to a mechanic who had not serviced my car, and had no clue what I was talking about. I asked for the manager, who of course was unavailable.

After about a week of being ignored and passed off to people who could not help me in any way, I called and informed Smith Chev Olds if I was not dealt with my the manager, I would be seeking legal advice. I was then transferred to a man who informed me they were processing my request and a cheque for the full amount of the tire service would be mailed to me within a weeks time. This "cheque" was never recieved.

Yesterday my car would not start, due to the theft system. I called Smith Chev Olds, informed them to make an appointment for Tuesday morning as I would be bringing my car in to have them fix it properly without myself paying a penny, and to pick up my cheque that was never recieved, because it was probably never sent. The receptionist sounded flustered and confused, so I gave her my name, my car make, model, and year, and informed her I would not be walked all over like the last time.
