We went to Yorkdale mall specifically to eat at Pickle Barrel Restaurant on a saturday. When we got there it was little busy.
We asked tha maitre dee that we needed a seat for 2 plus a high chair. So the head maitre dee tells the girl thats going to seat us"Put them back in the corner". We follow her.
On the way to our table; we pass by 4 tables that were empty.
We finally get to our table and were shocked. It was blocked of by another table; so If I had to get out I would have to ask the person in the chair in front of me to get out. The plates were as big as the table.
I told her she would have to find us another table. We walked back through the asile and saw a previous table empty. I asked her to seat us there. I ordered the food and when we got our plates asked for the manager.
I politly explained the situation to the manager who was dressed with his shirt hanging out (like a teenager). I showed him the table and how impractical it was to seat anyone there. When I asked him if he would seat his date there; he answered know. I even told him that the table across for us was empty and they seated people that showed up after us.
He said he'd look into the matter. Walked away and came back and said that it was spot that they usually use when it was busy. I told him that if I needed to be thrown in a corner I would have gone to a cheap place. I come to pickle barrel for the service. He also let us know that he never put us at the table he had was because it was a FIRE HAZARD can you believe that. I told him that there was a table across. If it was a fire hazard why didn't they move us there. He said that if we had waited this whole issue would have been eliminated. My husband informed him that no one asked us to wait at anytime. He never aplogized and I told him that I would let people and friends know never to eat there.
I will never go back and I urge to do the same. I'd rather make breakfast at home than go to any other Pickle Barrel. Either the food's cold which happened at the Erin Mills location or you get thrown in the corner at the Yorkdale location. Which one would you prefer?
