This is a bar that our friends frequent and both my wife and I were impressed with it since it opened recently.
However, the last time we were there was on saturday Feb 13th for the start of the Olympics. The service was decent and the food was nice but we were shocked when the bill came with 17% service charge already included!! I can understand this trend for a large table but there were FOUR of us!!
When the server came over we asked why and she said this was a service charge because of the Olympics and that all the restaurants in Vancouver were doing it!! If she thought we were going to swallow that nonsense she was mistaken!! We promptly told her that, A. This was not shown on the menu or mentioned to us prior to our meal and B. We had lunch in the Lions Pub in Canada Place and this charge was not in effect. Needless to say she quickly backed down and said she would take the charge off!!
I am so livid that they are trying to sneakily rip off people during a busy period and the thought of a family travelling to Vancouver and believing this nonsense makes me sick. Why can't they be happy that their venue is busy and not be so hell bent on greed!! They have lost four customers because of this and I hope more locals see this and take the same action!
