Dishonest creative way to ripoff

I also recieved the "letter" with the check. Assuming that since the check was attached, it must be real. They use large store names such as Walmart, Mayco etc to lead you to think they are affiliated with them and that the winnings are from a drawing of debt card users. All sounds so inviting. You want it to be real.

I took this to my banker who advised me not to deposit the check. He says they can then take my bank # and routing # from the back of the check to use.

They did not ask me for any information over the phone which I assumed (again) they must be for real, knowing that I want to protect that information. How creative. Someone stayed up all night thinking about this.

Now, I wonder how our government can step in to resolve this being sent to our country.
