Ramada Plaza Resorts
Multiple telephone calls in attempt to lure into fraudelent vacation scam ripoff Florida, Toronto, Ontario, Brampton

Greetings,

I am posting this message to warm others of the fradulent scam by Ramada Plazda resorts (www.vacationmemories.com).

On March 14th, 2006, I had a representative contact me from Ramada Plazda resorts for the purpose of completing a short 5 question survey which could make me eligible to win a trip to Florida and the Bahamas. The 3 questions were as follows:

1) Are you over the age of 21?
2) Are you single or married?
3) Where was your last vacation?
4) How much did you spend on your last vacation?
5) Is your mastercard in good standing?

Following this, a passcode is given to enter online to see if you have you have "won". Upon going to the website, I noted that there was no place to enter online. I contacted the company from the phone number that is posted online at www.vacationmemories.com I was given another website to go to enter the passcode online. I can't remember the name of this website though. I entered the passcode online. It said if I won I would be contacted shortly. I already figured this was a scam but was just falling this through to see what the scam was about.

The next day, on March 15th, 2006, I recieved a phone call from a representative from Ramada Plazda resorts in Florinda. The number showed up on my call display but there was no message.

On March 16th, 2006, I recieved a phone call from representative from Ramada Plazda resorts, by the name of Brian Gunzman. In response to my question, he statd he was in Toronto, Ontario. At the beginning of callhe stated "this call is being taped for quality assurance purposes." He stated that I had won a trip based upon my demographics. Although, I never gave them any information about my demographics. He asked:

1) What is your passcode number that was given to you? I mentioned that I did not keep the passcode. He said well you were suppose to. However, to confirm this is me, he wanted me to ask a couple of questions as follows:

A) Are you over the age of 21?
2) Is your mastercard in good standing?
3) Are you married? live common-in-law?

He requested to speak with my spouse. I replied he was not home and he said that he could no longer engage in the conversation and that a representative would call me make tomorrow evening. I inquired as to why he could no longer speak with me and he said it was "corporate policy that he needed to speak with both partners." He ended the call.

On March 17th, 2006, I had a call from April Hurley, the Promotion Director, from Ramada Plazda resorts. She stated "this call is being taped for quality assurance purposes." I replied, that was fine as I was also taping the phone call. In response to my question, she also stated she was in Brampton, Ontario. She was excited to tell me that I had won a trip. I replied..."let me guess, this must be to Flordia, the Bahamas, and the free trip to Las Vegas too." She replied: "Yes, indeed. I just need to know if your credit card is in good standing." I replied "Yes, my credit cards are in good standing. But, I had one question to ask before we proceed."

I asked her if she could clarify why Ramada Plaza resorts is posted online as one of the biggest fradulent scams going. She said she was not aware of this and would have her manager come and talk with me. She went to get her manager and after approximately 2 minutes came back to the phone and said her 2 managers by the name of Sandra and Dave would not come to the phone. She said she did not know their last names. She apologized for bothering me and stated they would not call again.

I repeated that she was involved in a fraduelent scam and that this information would going to be passed onto the RCMP in Ontario, including her name. She stated "Your going to actually pass on my name to the RCMP." I replied "yes". She stated she only started working there 2 days ago. She inquired as to where I found out about Ramada Plazda resorts is a rip off and wanted to know the website. I gave her this website to check it out. Te call ended.

I reported this information onto a department of the Ontario police department. If this should happen with you, please contact them through www.phonebusters.com It is a Canadian anti-fraud call centre. The information is used to when the govenment decides to license business, or when there are complaints against a business.

Irregardless, I was not taken by this fraduelent scam and am thankful for the comments on usaconsumercomplaints.com
