My wife and I decided to follow-up on a flyer Extreme Fitness puts out offering $5 for the first 2 months August 2004. We didn't know that we were signing up for a year long committment, with no way of getting out if our circumstances dictated so.
We eventually, after much haggling got our memberships cancelled and this included a personal trainer program I was mentally coerced into signing. But the payments continued after getting a written document cancelling our membership. Note, the personal trainer program is ONLY available to members of the gym we were advised by the staff. Since cancelling our memberships 4 payments were deducted from our credit card, one as recent as 3 days ago. What is the basis for these payments, I ask?
We reported the issue to the Better Business Bureau. The company told the Bureau that they will refund all funds and we subsequently got a phone call confirming that in January 2005. They continue to deduct payments. I reported to the Bureau, but they have no legal or otherwise means to enforce anything.
We have since contacted the Whitby office aiming to end this, fraudulent, in our opinion, deduction of payment for services that were never engaged of a non-member. No use.
This confirmed that Extreme Fitness does not feel obligated to act on its word it gives to anyone and treats the public the same way it conducts its business with lies, dishonesty and falsehoods.
