Job fairs, recruitment centers and EI reporting creates a humbling experience. In comparison Waterman offers a plush downtown location filled with wood paneling and impressive clientele.
Unfortunately what they offer, beyond the country club exterior, is, in my opinion, very thin and certainly not worth the several thousands of dollars for membership.
None of the Waterman owners/partners appear to actually provide service they drive the sales pitch, sign up clients and get cash up front. They employ a classic interview' type pitch and within a short time you are told congratulations, you have been accepted. Waterman will tell you they have a team of advisors. In reality they employ a revolving door of 1 to 3 temporary contracted staff ranging in expertise from very poor to very good. These advisors are not compensated well and do not stay for long.
I am not sure if Waterman's intensions are deliberately a scam or if they are just incompetent in what they do. Either way, I believe Waterman has neither the resource capacity or motivation to provide meaningful career management support.
