We received a letter telling telling us the following: We are pleased to advise that you are one of the winners in the consumer promotion draw organized for all customers of the major stores in U.S.A and Canada, e.g. Wal-Mart, Sears, Home Depot, Safeway, e.t.c. They enclosed a check for $4900.00 and it looked valid. We were instructed to deposit the check and call when that was done. After the check was deposited we were told to go to Wal-Mart and get a money-gram in the amount of $3900 and send to: Sammy Kingson, 5647 6th Avenue, St. John NB, Canada. This, we were told is the tax agent in Canada who will apply this money to the Canadian Tax due on the total winnings of $250, 000. Our bank investigated and found this check to be fraudulent, which is what we suspected. These people need to be stopped.
