ADT-ALTRA PRODUCTS LTD-BBB-VICTORIA RIP OFF AND LIARS, BBB USELESS FALSE CONTRACT, LIES BY SALESMAN, FALSE ADVERTISING, DID NOT RETURN CHEQUES, LIED TO BBB AND BBB DOES NOT CARE

The salesman left an advertisement saying free system. That was first lie. Called for appt. Salesman came. Stated that they would call back that night for appt within three days for installation. I had asked when it was to be installed..he had stated three days later and they would call that evening. Did not get my wife's signature, wanted me to sign her name. That should have been red flag. Second red flag was the fact the salesman asked for a cheque after contract was signed. I called head office the next day after not hearing from them for installation appointment.

I then cancelled the contract. I wanted my cheques back. I faxed the company in Victoria repeatedly, but got no response. I complained to ADT in Victoria about this dealer, but they got nowhere, nor did they care about this "New Dealer" and the salesman's practice. They had an illegal contract because when the salesman knew my wife was not home, he should have waitied until she was home to get her signature.

The owner did not care. As for faxing, I had a hard time getting a fax through. I did complain to BBB, but there is nothing they can do. They closed the file. They did not care about the false advertising nor the lies the owner wrote in his response to my complaint, stating he had contacted me by phone, when in fact he did not. I asked for my cheques back and the original contract so that I could shred them. He never responded to those faxes.

Then, I had an appointment with another ADT dealer, but he got the city wrong and did not even phone to confirm the address! I phoned him to see where he was! He was still in his city 60km away! I was not impressed and called him later again to say I was going with another alarm company.

I am well satisfied with the Alarm company we are with...

Don't deal with ADT! They don't care... customer service does not care and passes on to local office whom says they can't do anything either. All I wanted was for them to return my cheques. They accessed my credit bureau and everything and I have been victim of identity theft in recent months... all I wanted was customer courtesy!

The BBB does not care. As far as they are concerned, the contract was cancelled. They did not care that the owner stated in his response letter that I asked for a refund... that was a lie
