My husband recently joined the movie rental club of Zip.ca where you get movies mailed to you and then you return them by mail once you have viewed them. After checking out the first three movies we decided that it was not what we wanted as you had to wait forever for a movie to be sent out and then you were never sure of what from your list you were getting.

We sent the last of the four movies back and cancelled the next day. When we received out next credit card bill there was a charge for a non returned movies of $28.75. We called the company to ask what was going on and they stated that they never received this particular movie back. My husband stated that he had an email confirmation stating that they did receive it back. We were told it was not processed yet and that it may take a few days. A few days later my husband called them back and this time the person on the phone confirmed to my husband that the movie had been received and that we would be getting a credit.

We have since called our credit card company to see if the credit has been received and there is no sign. We called Zip.ca again to ask what is going on and they are now saying again that they do not have the movie back, even though we have an email stating that they have it. Braiden from Zip.ca said that the email stating that they had received the DVD back was sent out by mistake and that they never really received it and that is why they charged our credit card. I find this to be bogus business ethics and they are being vindictive about our cancellation of their membership.

No company would sent out receipt confirmation to a client if they indeed did not receive their product back. Zip.ca sends out their DVDs in their shipping packaging and they also supply prepaid return envelopes for the return of DVDs once they have been viewed. Seems like a dream where they take care of all the shipping details that all you have to do is drop it back in the mail. Biggest problem is when they say you haven't returned something you have now recourse to prove you did.

Except their email confirmation stating you have. Please everyone think seriously about utilizing this service before you do or else you may be dealing with the same kind of fraudulent charges that we are currently dealing with. Your credit card company will back you up especially if you have you email confirmation, so for all those who are thinking about this or those of you who are memebers now, save those email confirmations as they will be the only things that will verify that you deserve to get your money returned to you.

PS the amount of phone calls, and time spent sorting this out so far, and it's not over yet, has ensured that this was a very costly adventure, one that I'm sure we will never take again.
