I used to be a regular customer at the Blockbuster Video at Westdale Mall in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. One day I show up and the guy behind the counter tells me I owe Blockbuster $350 in late fees for returning videos late as well as videos not returned and also for game rentals.
I've had late late fees before but $40 the highest. I never rented games so I knew right away what it was. My roommate at the time and his girlfriend, she worked at the Blockbuster at Woodchester Mall in Mississauga were&and probably still are career criminals.
I tried explaining to him but he refused to listen not letting me finish what I'm saying. He insisted I MUST pay the late fees. I refused and walked out.
I then wrote a letter to the manager of the Westdale Mall Blockbuster as well as to the manager of the Woodchester Mall Blockbuster plus a letter to Blockbuster's Canadian head office in Etobicoke(now Toronto), Ontario.
I even had proof and gave names. Nobody called me. I have voice-mail so if they weren't going to reply by letter they could've left me a message on my voice-mail.
This is 6 years later and I have not returned to ANY Blockbuster location due to this incident. And to this date NOT the Blockbuster at Westdale Mall, NOT the Blockbuster at Woodchester Mall and NOT even their head office has contacted me by phone or by regular mail.
I still get their flyers addressed to me and when I do 6 years later I rip up the flyer and send it back to them telling them I don't want their business and why they lost me as a customer. Of course that is ignored too and no attempt was made to explain to me why I must pay a late fee that Blockbuster employees at Woodchester and Westdale Mall racked up on a card made by a Woodchester Blockbuster employee who no longer is there. She was fired which proves I am right in what I say.
Now they have their no late fees promotion and that won't bring me back. All they had to do was send me a letter by regular mail apologizing and saying not me but my roommate and his Blockbuster employed girlfriend will pay the fee.
I don't want a lawyer to fight this. I just want the whole world to know after what I experienced though there are some good employees be very very careful who serves you at Blockbuster. Or they'll insist you pay charges others racked up on a card made by their own employees who can easily make a card and put anybody's name on it(as the Woodchester Mall Blockbuster employee did).
And as my experience shows managers at Westdale Mall and Woodchester Mall and even Head Office don't care about you the customer. They proved it by not replying to my complaint.
