We found Ivan's Electric Limited contact information on our circuit box, and so we called him, thinking he would be familiar with our home.
Our mistake? We neglected to get an estimate for the minor repairs up front.
He was here for approx. 70 minutes to perform the following minor repairs:
Tested the dimmer switch & dining room light fixture
replaced dimmer switch & one mini socket that we supplied
tested 3 receptacles & the kitchen light switch
rewired 1 receptacle & kitchen light switch
replaced a circuit breaker on the main electrical panel His fee for the 70-minute job? $1, 050 plus tax. (A $270 "travel fee" to go 27 km from his business to our home), $630 for labour and $150 for parts ($55 for the dimmer switch and $90 for the circuit
breaker).
Call this man only if you're prepared to be hosed.
