I found this company on the internet job search engines, and sent a resume. I was really surprised when I recieved a call back from the company the very next day. I should have known it was a scam, as I was able to choose a time for the interview, then call back and change it to later.
I arrived to the location sent to me via e-mail, and was soon surprised to find it was in a very remote, dark and gloomy factory area. When I entered i was greeted by a gentleman that called himself Adam. He was tall, dressed in a suit and tie, appeared professional. He had a Texan accent, (I do not know now if that was real or put on) He had me fill out an application, and then I entered his office area. There was not one other single soul in the place he had music playing very loud, and I became a little nervous to be in this office in aremote location by myself with this young man I did not know.
When starting the interview, "Adam" had a line of previous interview application neatly aligned on his desk, he explained these were the "Top candidates" for the day that he would be contacting later that evening. This interview was very vague, none descript, and was deffinately not the administration position that ws advertised on the job site. In fact there was nothing administrative about it. He descussed how they opperate being very vague and mainly speaking of these "Events." He said due to there high demand, one could be promoted very quickly, to a manger position. (4-6 weeks)
I asked a few questions of my own, but the one i liked best was when I asked what type of benifit packages the compnay offered to employees. Adam was stumpped. He looked at me bewildered as if he had never heard of benifits before. So I repeated the question, and he said well what do you mean by benifits. (This was the red flag) Any legitimate company would be able to verse what their benifits were without hesitation, this indicated to me that they had no benifits!! He said that iwas the first person to ask that question in Canada, as we have free health care? What is he talking about, we all know that great benifits are what makes a company attractive in this day and age, more so than salary! He then said medical coverage started "after six months is when we start to invest in our employees." He talked about travel to Texas and Vagas, and also of boat cruises, asking if i would be able to travel to one or more of these locations at least once a month... Making the job sound glamorous and exciting. Unfortunately, I am not a fool!!!
During this interview "Adam" also mentioned charities such as find a child, heart and stroke foundation and big businesses like Home Depot etc... I called Home Depot and they have no idea whatthis organization is talking about!!!
Bottom line is, these people will stop at nothing just to "get" you. Do not be fooled by them, and don't even bother going to this interview. If you choose to go ahead and check it out for yourself, take a note pad and make notes, then compare it to what i have said.. if it sounds familiar, then you know... I have spoken nothing but truth to you, unlike the staff members of Shining tree International!!!
Get them before they get you!! REPORT IT!!!
