Full Time, No Pay

I was hired on a full time basis as an assosiate with one of the Virgin Mobile Mini Stores when it first opened. I took responsibility for helping with the stores setup, Oct.15, 07, suggesting new staff to the owners, making the schedules, order, and sale notifications over the phone, stock, maintaining the stores cleanliness, and checking/ replying to the stores e-mail every morning, along with new rollouts to follow. I had taken on the roll of a manager, without the title, or pay.

The store owners would hire people, such as friends, or employees from other stores in the mall to watch us work at the Virgin kiosk, and report back to the owners on a frequent basis, so that the owners new we were doing our jobs. It became so much I felt as if me, and the other emloyees were being stocked, or overwatched way too much by the owners "secret shoppers".

It became to the point where I would go to the washroom for five minutes, and when I came back the phone would be ringing off the hook, I would answer it, and it would be the emloyer, or their friend asking what we were doing, and where we went, and that under no circumstances were we to leeve the kiosk for anything, or they would simply call and hang up to make sure we were there, this falls under the title, harassment.

Meanwhile every few weeks, our owners would come into town to evaluate us and make sure everything was up to date, if, or when it wasn't we would be yelled at, and spoken down to, as I felt was a threat.

By the end of it all I felt so un-apreciated for all the work I was doing, and requesting nothing for it, especially when the kiosk only had two emloyees because the first emloyee quit after several days, which meant myself, and the other employee had to work six to seven days a week, doing 40 to 48 hours a week at 9.00/h plus comission.

I was beginning to get so upset, and fed up with the way we were being treated, after only 3 weeks of the kiosk being open I decided to leave, not even having a new job yet.

The day I left I photocopied the schedules, and my sales for the time I was there, to make sure everything, my hours, and comission were accounted for.By payday I had worked 3 weeks total at 9.00/h working 82.5 hours, and having the highest sales which was just over $2000, 00 in sales. I was supposed to recieve $ 742.50 plus around $2-250.00 in comission. I, in return recieve nothing. No cheque, no anything, nore did the other employee still being the only one working with Virgin full time.

It was after 1 month, of complaining and calling that I recieved in the mail a cheque for $515.95 not including my comission cheque, that's a big diffrence compared to $742.50. I then had to call my owner, and ask her what happend to the rest of my money, and why such a large sum was taken off my cheque. It was then when she started yelling at me telling me that all of her "secret shoppers", and all her friends decided that I was never at the kiosk, I was always gone, I was always on a break, and that she decided to deduct, from my cheque, 25-30 hours. They did not put all my hours on my paystubb, just the hours that they belived I should get for what I worked. In total the only hours they could take away from me was five, because of the halves I did take when there was another emplyee working.

Tell me, how in 2 to 3 weeks does somebody who is never at the kiosk sell $2000.00 worth of phones, compared to the only other employee, who, by the time I left had only sold $300.00 worth.

it has now been three months since I have left, last month I recieved my commision cheque, and I am still deeling with the wrong people to get the rest of my money. I have dealed with Virgin head office, with the owners of that kiosk, the manager at the calendar club, who was associated with the Virgin store, believed to be stealing money, I have also contacted the labour board, and head office of the calendar club, and still no response from anyone. I still have the schedules, and all my sales reports from the time I was there, I also have my paystubbs from what I recieved, and I have record of all phone calls, and e-mails, sent in, and out in this time.
