Lottery Fraud--Check for $975 with $17, 000 Waiting with my name on it

I received one of these letters too. Mr. Jones Makali must be very busy man, because he apparently handles my "claim" as well. My letter is identical--$17, 975 in prize money, a cashier's check for the $975 made out to me enclosed. I am to deposit the money, then when it clears, contact him for further instructions. I even asked him point blank if this was a scam, and he assured me that "This is for real! " I only have a savings account at this time because I am having major financial problems. I wonder if they use rejected credit applications as their sources so they get the people who truly need it!! I only pity the people who were actually taken in by the scam. I am going to try to cash the check--after all, I have nothing to lose!! I will let you know what happens next!
