After being ripped off previously by web designer Michael Modena aka Mike Modena, we were very cautious about hiring another web designer online. Andrew Wutt aka Andrew Webber has emailed us many times applying for a job in response to our Craigslist job ads.. at first for a logo designer position, and most recently for a flash web designer job.
We finally decided to give Andrew a shot because we liked his animations and work on his web site. We hired him on to build a new website for our company. We explained that we would pay upon completion of the site because of our past bad experience. He said he understood and that was fine, but he always asks for a $50 deposit to cover red bull, smokes, and munchies. I thought that was pretty funny and he seemed like a down to earth guy, and what's 50 bucks right?
So I sent him an email money transfer for $50. he told me he'd probably have the site done within a DAY. I told him that was ridiculous and didn't want him to rush. He said he really gets into his projects and works non stop. I said let's make the deadline Friday, one week away, so that the site wouldn't be rushed. I needed a few days to get him the content anyways.
That night, he sent me two mock up pictures of what our site could look like. I really loved one of the pics, and became instantly excited about the site he would be building us.
After that, he stopped emailing me. I would email him content over the next few days, and he'd respond with short one sentence emails.. enough to string me along...
By mid week I started to get worried. If the site was to be launched on Friday, wouldn't he have more mock ups and progress for me to see and give my approval on? I asked him about this and he would come up with excuses, like his 4 year old was sick, or the internet connection was crap from his provider as he just moved into a new place, etc etc... he was also rude in saying to me that he was well aware of the approval process, yet never apologized for not having anything for me to see.
Friday came and I heard nothing from Andrew. I emailed him asking him to give me a time/date the site would be finished, as I wanted to start advertising the new web address asap. He said if I could be available, he was going for noon the next day.
The next day I didn't hear from at all. I emailed him in the evening asking him where my web site was, and he replied "open in flash in front of me awaiting completion". Again, no apologies, not even excuses or acknowledgment that he was missing his deadlines yet again.
That's when I searched his name on complaint! Lo and behold, this guy is running the same scam that the previous guy Mike Modena was running, only this guy has TONS of rip off reports filed on him! His name is either Andrew Webber or Andrew Wutt, and also has a girlfriend named Sheila Blackmore who responds to all his rip off reports, trying to cover his tracks and say that people are making stuff up.
People, do not listen to her.. or him. It's all true. As of today, May 16 2009, Andrew Webber / Wutt is STILL ripping people off by stealing their deposits and not delivering a web design. I'm so glad I only lost $50 to him!!! Some people have sent him THOUSANDS of dollars and I truly feel for you people. We definitely need to get together and put a STOP to this internet SCAM ARTIST.
You are a disgusting excuse for a human being Andrew. I know you'll be reading this, you're probably a frequent reader of this site since you're always being reported! You should be ashamed of yourself. Too bad you have no talent to make an honest living, you can only steal money from others and set a terrible example for your 4 year old child, if you even have one.
We WILL take further action to put a stop to your scams... Talk to you soon!
