I am writing this letter to make a formal complaint regarding the misleading member consultant that signed me up recently.
I came into the World Health Club located in Edmonton off Gateway Blvd and 34 ave mid June enquiring on the price of memberships. My friend who is already a member at this gym also joined me as this was my first time at the gym. We were greeted by a member consultant named Chris. He was very pleasant and eager to show me all the amenities. I quickly informed Chris that I had very little time as I still needed to start work shortly. He assured me that the consultation would be quick. I also mentioned that I already had another gym membership and I was on a tight budget. I told him that I could only afford $ 30.00 per month as I was already working two jobs just to maintain my budget expenses. After almost an hour I told him I had to go and that I couldn't stay any longer. My friend felt bad for me as I was already late for work and had to call my boss to say I was running late. Chris asked me to bare with him as he continued his sales pitch. After running to the washroom I told him I had to go and that I really needed to see the membership prices. He showed me some prices, I saw 30.00 and I pointed to the price and said that was all I could afford a month extra. He assured me that would be fine and that he would waive the addition membership fees (aprox 150.00) I said sure I'll sign up at that cost only. He asked me to sign and initial but I was in such a panic to get out so I could leave for work that I failed to see that the membership was a by-weekly cost for $ 30.00 not monthly as I was mislead to believe.
My friend who is also a member felt very bad for me once we both found out that I was mislead and rushed by Chris. I was almost in tears because Chris neglected listen to my customer needs. I asked to speak to a manager, Ty the assistant manager said he would send an email to head office and call me back, he never phoned me back. I phoned today and spoke with the general manager Tyler Brown and he told me that he couldn't do anything for me. Not only was he unfriendly and unhelpful he insinuated that I was making up a story because he had never had anyone complain about Chris before and he considered Chris a very reliable member consultant. I was left feeling very upset and frustrated by his treatment over the phone. I asked for the head office number and he reluctantly gave it to me.
