I have been a personal trainer for Xcel Fitness III in Mississauga from June 2007 until September 2008.

During this time, I have experienced many problems with pay cheque delays and on two occasions, I was not paid for the number of hours worked.

During my employment at Xcel Fitness III I have had 3 general managers and for a period of about two months, the facility was ran withing a general manager and with little to none supervision from the owner, Lincolm Menton.

I have performed personal training services as an employee of the club, pay deductions were taken off my cheques and contributions to the government were made.

During the period of May 1 - September 30, 2008 I have invoiced the club for a total amount of $540. The amount was to be paid on August 1, 2008 but the cheque was never cut. The management told me that due to my vacation (of which they were well aware as early as February 2008) my pay would be delayed a month. On September 1 2008 I was not paid. Upon confronting the general manager, Jim Hamilton, I was told not to give him attitude and leave his office.

Since I was not given any clients from Xcel (despite a 90% renewal rate) and having only 1 client at the time, I decided to resign.

To this date I have not received my pay cheque.

I have contacted the Labour Board of Canada but they are backlogged and I am waiting for their response.

Xcel Fitness III has unethical business practices. I would not recommend them to anyone.
