I am currently a student at Ryerson University, and as you may know finances for a student are always as issue. I signed up for personal training and nutrional fitness sessions at extreme fitness, on the terms that I was allowed to cancel within a ten day period. During this time, I had many school related engagements that I had committed to, and I also fell sick during this time. Along with this I tried to contact the club representative who signed me up for this, through the phone, and even went in person to the club, but found out that employee had a day off. Amidst all this I tried several times to try to get other personnel at the club to cancel the contract, I spoke to the personal trainer over the phone, talked in person to the another club representative of equal status. when I tried to explain this to the person I had dealt with from the start he said that none of this mattered, and that wanted me to pay the full amount. I consulted a legal council, who first gave me the impression that the result would be in my favour, but when they could not help me further, they said they would refer me to a paralegal. The legal council also informed me that the paralegal has already said that he believes that this does not look good, and most cases of these sort result in the customer paying to the club. I visited this location on November 3, 2007 and was able to reduce the amount owed by about 80%, but the total amount owed is still absurd.
