I was walking on the street in East Vancouver British Columbia canada when two Italian men driving a new chrysler 300 pulled up beside me asking for directions to the airport. I was wearing a leather jacket at the time and they asked if I would be interested in buying three leather jackets from them. The driver pulled to the curb and gave me his business card. The card stated his name was Antonio and he worked for a company called Moda Italiano."Antonio" said to me that he and his friend were heading back to Italy and did not wish to pay some sort of customs tax on the coats and offered to sell them to me for cheap. He said they were worth $1000 each but would sell all of them to me for $500.
Sensing that something was not quite right about this supposed deal I told "Antonio" to wait on the street while I went to an ATM to get the $500. I then went home and did a google search of the company he said he represented and came across this web site and several other reports about similar types of scams occuring throughout North America. I have made an effort to contact the Vancouver Police Department and urge anyone in the vancouver/lower mainland area to do the same if approached by the same two men.
