On march 16th/06 My home was broken into. I contacted my Insurance Company Ranger Insurance. They told me they will send down adjuster to help me file a claim. The few days later a adjuster showed up at my door. This adjuster Gord Griffin stated he was from Aviva Insurance. I was stunned!! He explained he was Ranger Insurance's underwriter (which means Im here to screw you). I let Gord Griffin in to take a statement (Big mistake on my part).
The 1st question out of his mouth was I see you haven't been working for 3 years How can you afford to make house payments and pay for bills Ect, I thought to myself he has no right asking me a question like this. Anyhow I gave him a list of what was stolen. About 25 rare coins from my collection and 5 rifles Ammo & other personal items that were stored properly according to the Police officers that I had called at the time of the breakin.
Anyhow all the trouble started after I refused to use there contracter do fix my entry door. After I had my door fixed (which I paid for out my own pocket) Gord Griffin phoned me and made the statement I had over appraised my coin collection 50% to 75% I replied to him that he is a complete idiot if he thinks Im going to beleive his appraiser. He became very defensive towards me. I asked him then for a copy of this appraisal which he then stated he does not have to comply with this request.
Anyhow since then there own investagator Jack Van Damm of Aviva has asked me for a follow up statement. Which I said ok come to my house and I will be more than happy to comply. Jack Van Damm's reply was I can't go to your residence's due to Aviva's company policy. I thought to myself this is getting very wierd. So I agreed to meet at a local coffee shop. I got there to meet Jack Van Damm (Avivas Investgator) anyhow he tried asking me questions about another breakin with my family. Which I replied what the F@%& does this have to do with my case. Jack Van Damm replied this meeting is over due to the fact I feel threatend by you.
You must understand Im 5.6 160lbs and Jack Van Damm was 6.6 and at least 240lbs. So I laughed and said screw you and left. Since then my case has not been settled. I phoned Aviva's head manager to explain & ask why im been treated like this. Her reply is they feel threated by me. I called her a fool and said you need a lawsuit to straighten the way you treat your clients. Her reply was that my finacial background report they have on file makes them feel I dont stand a chance in court against them and they would tie me up in court for years.
How can Insurance companys get away with this? I never at any time gave them or any Insurance Company permission to have access to my personal info. Ranger Insurance has been taking my money for years and when it comes time to pay for a breakin they treat me like Im a criminal. What am I supposed to do against these two Insurance companys. Even if I sold my house (which I refuse to do) to fight them in court I will probally get screwed again and be out of a home in the process.
Im truly at the end of my rope so to speak. I have no idea how to battle with these Companys. I cant afford a lawyer to even setup a meeting with this company. And the part that really makes me angry is Ranger Insurance & Aviva Insurance knows this. And I never at anytime gave them permission to do so!
What Can I do? Please I need info on how to deal with these CROOKS.
