Bought a "final sale" marble top dining room table and 6 chairs on Jul 4, 2008 from their Guildford, Surrey store. When finally delivered (was supposed to be delivered mid July) on August 5th, I was not home so shipment was accepted by my husband who was not there when I purchased it. He confirmed with the driver that the table was in good shape but could not confirm it was the right table. When I got home from work and checked the table, the base and chairs were the right ones, but the marble table top was wrong. The one I saw in Guildford had only brown/tan and cream colors. The one delivered had tan/green/red colours. They originally tried to tell me that this was the only table they sold. Upon returning to the Guildford store in person, the saleslady confirmed it was not the one I saw/purchased on Jul 4/08.
It is now Sep 5/08 and all I have is a $1400 decoration in my dining room. They promised to try and find me the right table top but it is possible it is no longer made. Their next shipment that was supposed to arrive Aug.27th has now been delayed to the end of September. I told them I did not wish to wait that long and would like them to pick up the table and chairs and refund my money. I have been told by them that 1) you have a table, there will be no refund and 2) I am a special customer because their other customers don't care that they have gotten something different. I charged this item to my Visa account and my Visa Company advise they cannot reverse the charges because it was a "final sale" and this Company apparently has a "no return" policy. I understand about "final sales" however I would have thought this only applied if you actually received what you purchased. I have now checked the BBB in our area and this Company has "2 or more" unanswered complaints. Buyer Beware - never purchase a "final sale" item unless you are taking it home with you!
