Jeep Wrangler UNL 2010
Vehicle Purchase Agreement and oral aggreement discrepancy

My husband and I bought a 2010 jeep wrangler from Maple Ridge Chrysler. We were told on the day of sale orally that we would be getting a Jeep that would cost us $30 more per month over and above what we were already paying for our previous vehicle, a Toyota Matrix. We were told that we would get a trade in value of $22, 000. We were also told we would get a loan rate of prime plus and that it would be around 5%. We signed the vehicle agreement without thoroughly understanding the numbers and the break down of what were agreeing to. This was our mistake. We should have looked closely into what they were doing. When we called to ask why the Vehicle Purchase Agreement was so high compared to what we were told orally we were told this...

We bought a 32, 508 Jeep with a trade in allowance of 19, 000 for the Matrix...(this was news to us as we were told we would get 22, 000). Apparently, we owed 26, 500 on the matrix and the bank would not allow there to be a discrepancy between what we owe and the trade in allowance of only 19, 000 so they inflated the price of the vehicle to 43, 910 and made it look like we got a trade in value of 26, 500. This brought the price difference on the vehicle down to 17, 410. They then tacked on car care, tire warrantee, an extended warranty and hst before and after the warranty was added. Added to this was the lien payout on the matrix which cost us 26, 500. This brought the cost of Jeep up to 48, 798.92... plus the 6.89% for 60 months which will become 61, 429.75 THIS WAS NEVER PROPERLY EXPLAINED TO US AND WE WOULD NEVER HAVE AGREED TO THIS HAD WE FULLY UNDERSTOOD WHAT WE WERE GETTING OURSELVES INTO. Then we agreed that we would make monthly instead of bi-weekly payments so we could get a grace period before starting payment. They DID NOT tell us at that time that this would inflate the monthly costs to us by much more than $30. We ended up paying $102 dollars more per month than on the Matrix. We explained to them that we were financially uncomfortable paying this but they obviously didn't listen and didn't explain this to us at the time of sale.

We were also very unhappy with the service we recieved. We were told that we would get a free tank of gas with the vehicle. We did not get that until we asked for it. We also were never properly shown how to use the vehicle and had to go back numerous times with questions. We found parts missing in the jeep and it did not have floor mats. We received a ripped tire cover as an apologetic gesture. We had to go back and ask for a new one. We also received some other things as compensation but they didn't offer these things, we had to ask. There also seems to be a lack of communication between the Sales, Service and Parts Departments. You ask questions and no one seems to be on the same page, this tested our patience levels!

Overall we were completly dissatisfied with the service we received. We feel we were very misled... if we had been told about the real costs associated with this Jeep we would never have agreed to it. We assumed we could put our trust in Sales professionals but instead we discovered that we have to question everything being told to us orally. We thought we were getting a higher quality of sales and service..that's why went with new instead of used but we were treated much worse than anywhere else we've ever dealt with! My husband was considering buying a new diesel truck through Chrysler but we will never deal with this company again!!
