My wife booked a shipping container with them several months in advance to transport household goods to Spain. She made it clear that she needed the container delivered to our home in Hope, BC. She had booked her flight for the 24th, the container was booked for delivery on the 16th of April.
Several days before the promised delivery, World Cargo informed her that they had not realized we were in Hope and that we would be charged an extra $1500 and the container would not be delivered until the 27th.
When my wife, and later I, showed them the proof that she had clearly stipulated Hope, months before, and had it confirmed, one of the staff there, Thais Soares, and later the head of the company, Matt Bryson, refused to listen and continued to lay the blame on my wife and insist on the extra charges.
Since it was by now clear my wife would not make her flight, I stepped in to request that the company deliver the container on the later date at the original cost, while asking that they acknowledge their mistake and stop blaming my wife for their own incompetence. Matt then refused to deal with me and tried to persuade my wife to take the deal he was offering and leave me out of it.
Consciously or not, World Cargo & crew got us over a barrel, leading my wife to believe everything was arranged and then, at the last minute, attempted to extort more money out of her, knowing that most people would cave in under the pressure. At no time did anyone there admit their mistake or apologize; on the contrary we were blamed for it and accused of being difficult customers!
I can say I think without exaggeration that this was my worst experiencing dealing with a company in 50 years on the planet.
Needless to say we found another company.
