Sent me a fake check for $4775 saying i won a sweepstakes

I was given a letter saying i was a winner of $145, 000 us dollars from a total prize of $2, 900, 000 that was divided between 20 winners. there was a check enclosed for $4775 that was supposed to be for paying the taxes on my winnings. $3845 was the applicable tax amount to be paid by money gram. i was given a phone number 1-647-833-1810 to call with a claim number to expedite the processing of funds. i was told to call michael james at that number asap. the letter was signed by jim zelger. the check for $4775 was from bank of america. so i went to the bank with the letter and check, we they checked the account number it did exist but the account balance was $0. the bank made a copy of the check, gave me the copy and sent the original to their fraud dept. the lady at the bank also let me know that if i ever wanted to know if a check was real one way to find out is to try to copy it. if it is real the word void will be all over the copy. i hope this helps some one out there it sucks that you cant trust anyone any more
