My husband received a letter in the mail, with a check stating that he was declared one of the North Mega sweepstakes winners that was held on September 15th, 2007. A ticket number as well as a claim number was given. It declared to my husband that he was one of 20 winners who had to share 5 million dollars. this would give each winner 250, 000.00. The letter stated that all participants were selected through a random drawing. The claim has been assigned to their North American Claims Affiliate.
To expedite the processing enclosed is the check of 4880.00 US dollars which has been deducted from your winning. The letter goes on to state The sole purpose of this check is for the payment of applicable Government taxes on your big winnings. The tax amount is 2985.00 US dollars to be paid by either Moneygram or Western Union. the letter finally states, please do not attempt to use this check until you call.
Thank God I had the good sense to share this letter with a coworker. She advised me to check out all the bank information as well as check out the financial institution.
After doing this, I still was not able to get complete satisfaction. That's when I went on line to find out if there were any scams related to sweepstakes, and that's when I found the Waterhous Financial Inc. report.
Even after I spoke with Ms. Jones and told her my bank would not accept the check without a number to call. She still said to me that they would reissue my husband another check in 2 or3 days. MY GOD!!! Who do these people think they are. If it looks too good to be true. Trust me. IT's A SCAM
