First Resolution Management Corp, Unifund, Chase Bank
First Resolution Management Corp, Unifund, Chase Bank Junk Debt buyer sold a paid debt from Chase Bank

In November of 2006 I paid off a substantial debt to Chase Bank. They sold my account to Unifund in February, 2007 as an unpaid debt. In the process of trying to straighten out what I thought was a mistake, I found that Chase had been charging interest to the account even though it was paid in full. When I notified them that I was aware they had sold my account to Unifund three months after it was paid they advised me that they would close the account and notify the credit agencies that it had been paid. All contact from Unifund stopped and I assumed the problem had been resolved.

However, in December, 2008 I received a letter from First Resolution Management Corporation stating that they had purchased the account from Unifund and demanding payment. I wrote them a letter explaing the situation. They responded by saying that they had contacted Chase and the debt was still owed.

I could obtain a copy of the cancelled checks from the bank and send it to them but I am furious. I want to sue Chase Bank and Unifund for all of the aggravation I've had to deal with over a paid debt. Is that possible?
