I received a letter informing me that I had just won $85, 000 US Dollars. They sent a check to pay the taxes on the winnings. Called phone number on the letter to see if I really won. The guy named Ron told me to deposit the check and then call him or Susan Gibson back. He wanted to make sure that I deposited the check asap. I showed the letter to my Mother and she told me it was a scam.
We looked it up on the internet and there it was big as day. The same winning ticked I won with also won on August 16, 2008. Ticket # 217788954. The names were the same in the report as on the letter that I received. They did change the name of the company and claim number everything else was the same.
I don't know how they can get away with doing things like this. It is not a good feeling to have your identity stolen. This has happened to me before and I am not going to let it happen to me again. I wanted to report this to help others from becoming victims of these scamartist.
