Expedia.ca
Over charge

I've just booked with Expedia a vacation package on March 8. Expedia sends promotion deal to my e-mail almost everyday. I was attracted by a good deal going to Prague as low as C$865/avg person. I went to the site for further details. I selected depart on March 27 and return on April 3 flight and a 6 night hotel package. The search gave me a even better deal. Expedia advertising if book together save over C$700.00 At the time I picked the package with British Airway 6 nights Hotel U Divalda, the listed price was $775 avg/person. When I continued to book and go on next page. It showed good news further cut down the price. I found the price was suspiciously low, so I went back to the home page and search by flight only and then hotel only. The hotel is on sale with an average C$32 per night. Total cost C$194. Book with British Airway flight only C$1046. Wow this is really a big saving as advertising book together trip saving over $700. So I started over again to book my vacation package. Since the price was so low, I read the rules and restriction and click on the link s to verify if there is any hidden charges that I might overlooked. I spent an hour to read through all the details again and again afraid of being trapped by small text usually use for fool the consumers. On the page Review your trip items. Trip detail confirmation package booking cost C$ 1537.46 Avg/person C$768.73 . This total includes selected items, taxes and service fees. unless specified otherwise, rate are quoted in CAD . Package booking cost : $877 Taxes & service fee $660 Package total $1537. It's great, so I accept price and submitted my credit card information. Once the booking completed. I was shocked to see the real time confirmation showed package total is C$2259.12 instead of the accepted price C$1537.46. I submitted the form at the bottom of the travel confirmation immediately regarding over charge. I completed my booking very late at night, so I called an Expedia representative next morning. Cherry or Sherry insisted I did the booking on line, once I accepted the price, it can't be reverted. I explained to her all through the booking process, I never see any amount over $2000 anywhere and anytime. The total shown above the payment option is $1537.46. This was a system error. I wanted a credit of overcharge. She is very rude, and I was so frustrated that I almost want to cancel my trip while I was speaking to her. She insisted that was my mistake and nothing to do with Expedia. I could not continue argue with her in the office, I hanged up. After work, I called again, this time I spoke with Paul. He told me if there was a mistake, I should call Expedia the same day, the purchase can be canceled without penalty but I called too late. He cannot help. I replied to him I called within 24 hours. He said the transaction was yesterday. I completed the booking at 10:30 p.m. the confirmation email do not advise me I can call 24 hours/7 days. After 20 minutes on the phone, he finally promised to pass my case to the supervisor for investigation. But I have to followed up my self the next day. Since then, I made numerous calls everyday I was always being put on hold for 15-20 minutes. No one get back to me. I sent e-mail, customer support team has no reply. Worst at all British Airways union announced cabin crew will be on 4 days strike starting March 27. I called again and sent e-mail, of course, no reply. Expedia does not alert customer for any potential delay in advance. Very disappointed with Expedia. I will definitely will not book with Expedia anymore.
