I am a freelance writer. ClearQuest Media - doing business as Opulence Magazine - accepted and paid for several articles from myself. The last article I wrote for them ran in the Feb/Mar 08 Opulence Magazine.
I was leery about submitting my piece as I had heard from other writers that they were still unpaid for their articles. However, when I emailed the editor at the time he assured me I would be paid.
I have spent the last months trying to get a cheque for $472.50 for this story. I also have asked repeatedly for a copy of the magazine as it adds to my "clips" and is essential for building my portfolio. I have been told repeatedly by Jonathan Molina that the cheque and magazine were in the mail.
I finally reached somebody on August 18th, 2008 and she sent me a PDF file showing the pages of my article and said she would send the magazine but that the cheque problem had to be dealt with by Clear Quest.
I am in contact with many other writers who are also unpaid by Clear Quest. It is clear that they intend to run this glossy magazine about living the good life by ripping off the people who actually provided all the content.
