The Record, a local newspaper, publishes an on-line auction for the public from their advertisers. They have a deal with their advertisers for advertising for any amount over and above what they pay to The Record.
Grahams Interiors uses this method of advertising regularly. I bid and won on a $400 certificate from Graham's Interiors. Nowhere on the agreement after winning it, or when it was advertised in the listing of items in the auction, did it say that I had to spend $1000 in order to use my $400.
I have tried to sell, give, donate, everything to get rid of this certificate as I am not in a position to spend $1000. I have had a real battle with Wayne Graham with this and he does not budge. Bottom line is that I have to spend $1000 on something, anything, before he will reduce it by $400. Even though it does not say that anywhere.
I have advertised it for as little as possible and have had good response until they check it out or I tell them the circumstances. Of course no one wants it. I am stuck with a gift certificate that I paid plenty for and am unable to use.
The Record's representative for the auction has not returned my many phone calls to get this corrected or compensation of any kind. Talk about buyer beware. Mr. Graham just says "too bad" and The Record doesn't care as long as they get their money for advertising.
