I called the person, and told me to deposit check and call her back to pay for tax and clearance fees to receive my winnings

I received a letter from the British Lotto Commission stating that my name was selected from 8, 000, 000 names and addresses who had previously signed for the North American Sweepstakes. It also stated that I am one of the winners in the Third Category and was to be awarded a lump sum of $165, 000 dollars out of the total prize money of $12, 000, 000.00.

There was a check enclosed with the award letter of $1, 890.88 which was to be deposited into my account to pay for tax and a clearance fee in order to receive the remainder of the winnings of $163, 109.12. So I called the person and spoke with her and she swore up and down that it wasn't fake, and that I should call her back when the check cleared.

It was to good to be true so I went online and did some research only to find out that it was all a hoax.
