International Grocers Association (IGA)
Ripoff

First, please allow me to describe myself fully: I am 73 years of age, a semi invalid who lives in a Retirement Home for Se niors, for medical reasons. Howeve, I continue to drive my car; for purposes of parking it closely to th
trance of the bove mentioned outlets, I have received a "Handicapped Sign" from the Provincial Goverbnent, which permits me to park in those areas which are reserved for people like me.

The IGA outlet nearest to where I live is undergoing extensive renovations, so I am willing to forgive the dirt, the surliness of its employees and the general disdain for a customer's needs.

However, only recently, since I was driving by yet another IGA outlet, which was definitely not undergoing renovations, I found that the atitudes of it's employees were even worse!

As I was unfamiliar with this pparticular outlet, I had to ask of its employees where I might find the items which I wished to purchase; to a man (or woman), and in spite of plainly seeing that I was limping heavily and in great pain, not a single one of them took the trouble to reply to my several requests.

At best, all I received was a look of pure churlish disdain!

"The Straw That Finally Broke My Back", as it were, came when, after painfully finding things by myself, I proceeded to the check out counter, where the cashier, a young woman, totalled my purcases, whereapon I presented her with my credit card, which she duly rung up.

I had expected to be served by a "Bagging Person", but there weren't any to be seen. When I queried the casier, she disinterstely informed me that I would have to do my own bagging, as she pointed to the large number of plastic bags which were lying at the very end of the check out counter.

Since, by now, I was in even greater pain, it took me quite a long time to pack all of the items which I had purchased. In consequence, the line behind me grew ever longer with other impatient shoppers.

At this time the cashier gruffly asked me to move my cart, so that the other shoppers could proceed.

Knowing full well that "moving my cart" would cause me still more pain, I refused!

Upon hearing my refusal, the cashier leaned back, crossed her arms across her chest and assumed an appearance of complete indifference both to my plight as well as the others!

Now, I know that "Self Service" means exactly that, but there is definately a line which should not be crossed.

I firmly believe that the line was crossed!
