Thompson Management seems to be a ghost company that was sure to have once existed. But no trace of Alister Courtney, the scaminal mastermind behind it all, can be found.
The flyers for "What's Your Demo Sayin'" were all over downtown Toronto. The event was to be held at the reputable St. Lawrence Theatre for the Arts in downtown Toronto. Bands and solo artists were told to pay $400 to register, ontop of a $12 US fee if they registered through sonicbids.com. After arranging an audition time, my band and I met with Alister and auditioned. We also paid half of the deposit: $200 cash. MISTAKE #1: ALWAYS GET A RECEIPT!!!
After many postpones, the event was eventually postponed indefinately. Also, the website went down, the emails to the email address came back, and the phone numbers were all out of service. Alister Courtney was nowhere to be found.
This all occured in October of 2008. It is now June 2009 and no one has heard a word.
So music lovers, be wise! Scammers will always attack your passion!!! And always get a receipt!!
ANYONE WHO HAS HEARD OF THIS SHOWCASE AND KNOWS ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN A VICTIM, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!! I WOULD LIKE TO ORGANIZE A CLASS ACTION AND REGAIN OUR MONEY!!
