On April 24th, 2009 I purchased a Dirt Devil Vacume from Canadian Tire here in Vernon, BC . When I got home and unpacked it, I realized that it had been abused, repackaged and put back on the shelf, only to be sold again . I contacted the store informed them what happened . Went back got another one tried it in my home and it it not suitable and was hoping to return it for a full refund or in store credit, but since it was used once .. they would not do either .
I would have not purchased this item from Canadian Tire if I knew of this return policy . The clerk at the till, did not inform me of this at the time of purchase . I am not a frequent shopper to have known or I would have taken my business else where .I tried calling the customer service toll free number for assistance with this issue, only to be told to sell it privately . What a company! But on the receipt it clearly states the following : Easy returns: Save your receipt To return an item for exchange or refund, bring it to any Canadian Tire store within 90 days, in its original condition and packaging, with your receipt and issue of Canadian Tire Money. Your name, residence address and phone number will be required. That information is collected, used and retained to help prevent fraud, and may only be disclosed within Canadian Tire. Valid photo ID may be required to confirm this information. Details at our Customer Service Desk. Some exceptions may apply.
- Items limited to return within 30 days: all electronics
- Items which may only be returned if they are unopened: ink cartridges, media, and memory cards .
To me this is contradictive to what the receipt states and these stores are ripping off their customers, one day I hope that others will stop shopping there and stay with stores such as Wal Mart, Zellers, etc .
I know that I will never step foot into another Canadian Tire Store, no matter what they have on Sale!
