Matthew calls you up, you probably advertised in the Auto Trader. You want to sell your car. He says he has a network of buyers, they finance vehicles for them, qualify them and send them your way for $150 fee upfront that it totally refundable if the vehicle doesnt sell.
His words are vey smooth, it seems very likely. He has answers for all your objections.
He states, not to use credit card as we would have to process it at his office face to face, so instead use e-mail money transfer from your online banking account.
before I knew it I was emailing money to a guy I didnt even have his phone number, the name of his company andso i check the internet and it seems as if he's been doing this for a while along with an accompliss Ashley!
So, beware they wont send you an email confirmation with all the details of the company along with a receipt.
Its only $150 bucks, but for me it was the fact that he was outright lying to me and I got scammed that really made me mad!
And by the way, I asked him what about the stuff online, he gave me an answer saying that another company Global Auto Finder had some scam issues and it was that company that was online.
I think he borrows a legitimate website froma legitimate company in the US to make it look good.
I gotta tell you, I'm a pretty smart guy, not stupid at all, have a financial background and he still got me.
The bottom line I had a gut feel something wasn't right. Always go with your gut feel, it never lies to you!
Best of luck beating the B/S from Matthew from Calgary!
