I received a letter dated 11/8/08, with a claim number saying they have made many unsuccessful attempts to contact me regarding this winning. I am entitled to the sum of $250, 000 US Dollars. This is from total prize money of $5 million US Dollars that was shared and presented among the other 20 declared winners.
I received a check in the amount of $4890.00 that was deducted from my winnings to pay the taxes.
When I called the phone number listed on the letter, a male answered telling me to deposit the money into my checking account. Then call him once I deposit the check, and he will tell me where I need to go to pay the taxes at a Western Union.
This is a scam, and I am not sure what to do from here.
