Fidelity Financial Services Declared a winner in Lotto North American-2nd category

On July 19, 2008 I received a letter along with a check for $4, 875 declaring I was a winner in the LOTTO NORTH AMERICAN SWEEPSTAKES on May 10th. I knew immediately that this was a ripoff scheme. The request to keep the notification confidential, the check was to be used to pay taxes ONLY--the taxes on the $125, 000 declared total winnings is much more that $2, 875--the use of the words "tax agent", etc. What immediately came to mind was what if an elderly person received this letter or someone who is in a desparate situation in these hard economic times. The check looks official and may even be an actual check--I'm sure some unsuspecting individuals have actually "taken it to the bank". Isn't using the mail to solicit fraudulant activity a felony? These people have the ability to truly harm so many people and they must be stopped. How can we?
