I am quite sure that this is another scam. Fortunately, my husband can't use the phone so I do all that stuff. He is retired so he has plenty of time to send so many lottery or sweepstakes entries. He received the same thing regarding the winnings, check, tax for non-resident, etc. He deposited the check yesterday and it seemed real because it came through. (I think because it is now available.) I have a neice in Canada so I called her regarding this. she told me about the scams so I am now nervous about it. I am going to the bank and get the money out and deposited it in a different account. I know it is not ours so I don't want it to be in our account. I want to return it to whoever is the real owner of the money.
I also want all those people who prey on us to be punished. Life is already hard enough and they are making it worse. Anyway, I didn't call or contact any of those people in the notice we received.
