AGN*Bargainlink and AGN*Vacationsavers
Free coupons

I ordered an item over the internet from a company and as I was doing this two ads popped up - one was for a $50 gas coupon from Petro Canada and one was for a $25 Canadian Tire coupon. I happened to click on these ads, in fact who wouldn't want free stuff. Big mistake - I got two charges of $19.95 plus two charges of $1.95 on my credit card. When I called them to complain I asked them what the charges were for. I was informed that they were membership fees for these supposedly free coupons. The first person I talked to cancelled my membership and put me through to another person who I assumed would credit my credit card for these amounts. Instead I was told that I had accepted the terms of the free coupons and that he wouldn't credit my account. As this was obviously my fault because I had accepted the terms and conditions I will reluctantly pay the charges. When I asked this person what I was going to get for my membership I was told that because I had cancelled it I was entitled to get nothing. I thought that I should at least get the free coupons I had ordered. The bottom line is that I have paid for something and have gotten absolutely nothing in return except frustration and bitterness for unscrupulous people that take advantage of innocent people. From now on I will ignore any pop-ups or ads that come on internet sites. This episode has also taught me to read every word on every document no matter how long it takes.
