On October 2nd, 2008 I responded to an ad on Kijiji to purchase 2 Genuine Apple iPhones from a person in Montreal, Quebec. This is a copy of the ad:
Shortly after responding to the ad, on October 17th, I begin speaking with Igor on MSN Messenger. He uses the ID worldunionsales. We had some small talk about the iPhones, and then I send Igor the money via personal check (Addressed to Igor Bondarev)
After many attempts to have Igor send out my iPhones, he insisted that the check clear first. After it finally did clear about a week later, Igor told me he was going to ship my iPhones. He also provided me with a UPS tracking code. (1Z24RW162017484385)
The next day my package arrived with the sticker reading my name, and the return address from Igor Bondarev - 27 rue Nash, Dollard-Des-Ormeaux - and his phone number. I was sure to open it in front of the UPS driver, and was surprised to find a box filled with toilet paper, half a bottle of cologne, an old cable switch and a broken antique cell phone. I immediately phoned Igor - no answer. I phoned the number on the package and spoke with his father.
Later, Igor phoned me and told me I was lying. He insisted that he had send me 2 brand new 2G 16GB iPhones. He packaged them himself. He had the papers from UPS to prove it. He insisted that he speak with UPS in the morning and get it sorted out. Although I was furious, and sure that Igor had completely ripped me off, I had no choice but to see what happened in the morning.
The next morning I awoke to an email from Igor Bondarev with a story about his being ripped off on this deal. Yes, that's right. Igor is playing the victim - saying he got ripped off. He offers to send me 2 new iPhone 3G 16GB's - and I begin to believe that perhaps just perhaps Igor was telling the truth.
Boy, was I wrong.
Igor phoned me from this new store that he found to get iPhones from. He said I have your 2 iPhones right here with me, I'm just on my way to UPS to ship them to you. I ask if they're brand new - and if they're 16Gig's - both questions to which he responds yes. Later that day, Igor sends me a new UPS shipping number. Later that night, we speak again.
During this conversation, Igor says that he took a 2 pictures of the iphones he sent me, and provides me with a copy.
The next day, I received my package. It contained two chinese knock-off iphone (seen below - called skyphone) models that I've seen selling for $80 on ebay. I immediately phoned Igor, and again he insisted that he sent me genuine iPhones. When I insisted that they were fake, and reminded him that he actually wrote his initials on both boxes, he admitted that they were fake, but said there was no difference - and asked me how was I to know the difference?
I insisted that he either return my money - or send me 2 REAL iPhones as per our original agreement, to which he declined. His arguement is that he told me that he was selling me a fake iphone. Well, that's not what the ad says, and it's certainly not what he ever said to me! I have since seen his ad selling these iPhones on almost every city on Kijiji.
I have emailed Igor numerous times and explained to him that I would be detailing his scam in a blog, and reporting it to numerous agencies, to which he replied: (i've omitted the profanity)
YA SURE GO AND F**K YOUR SELF YOUY F**KIG FAGUYT IF YOU WAN TO DO IT JUST DO IT DONT SCARE ME AND DONT SEND ME EMAILS AGAIN.YOU DOING THAT YOU KNOW WHY??????????
BECAUSE YOU CANT DO SHIT
I am here to show Igor that people CAN do something when they get ripped off.
