TheDVDPlanet Took my money and sent me "Bootleg" DVDs

I ordered the Carol Burnett 11 Season, 8 DVD Collection on November 14th, 2007 for $69.99. Weeks went by and I e-mailed the company and asked if I'd receive my shipment by Christmas. They sent back an e-mail saying that it had been sent to the wrong address and they'd send another one. On December 15th, 2007, I finally received it!

I immediately ran to my TV for some relaxing and hilarious viewing. Well, the first DVD I viewed skipped. I put in another one and it skipped, too. Carol Burnett would be coming out at the beginning of the show in one color dress and then it would suddenly skip to another color. The picture was also very blurry.

I tested each one. It was obvious that these were made off of someone's television. Also, the packaging consisted of a "jacket" obviously made on a printer, no licensing by CBS or anyone else, just a plain red background with Carol Burnett, Tim Conway and, I believe, Harvey Korman.

I e-mailed the company to let them know that I'd be returning the DVDs because they "skipped". I sent them back by registered mail (the absolute most secure) on Monday, December 18th, 2007. (Oh, and that "wrong" address that they had been sent to originally was some guy in New York named John. His shipping label was glued underneath mine.)

Weeks went by again. I hadn't received my refund or pink return receipt. Every time I'd check the tracking number on USPS.com, it showed that my package was received in customs. Well, that's as far as it got.

I e-mailed DVD Planet again and they said to ask my credit card company for a "charge back". I did. They can't. I did file a dispute, though.

So now I'm in the process of filing a complaint for mail fraud with the postal service. Can they do anything? I hope so.

Please, all others who have been ripped off by this company, file a dispute with your credit card company and then, please, file a mail fraud complaint with the U.S. Postal Service. Ask your local post office for the phone number of the Postal Inspection Service.

This company first had a message on its homepage that said their supplier had "closed its doors."
Then, in an e-mail sent to me on January 9th, 2008, they said that the bank they were using to process their credit card orders went out of business just before Christmas!
What's the REAL story? Maybe they finally got caught selling unlicensed products?
