Dr. Martin Jugenburg performed liposuction on my friend last month. He was rushed to St. Michael's hospital in Toronto where he is still in the ICU in a virtually brain dead state. Dr. Jugenburg is a board certified, fellowship-trained plastic surgeon. You can now find his smug face on the website of Dr. Frank Lista in Mississauga. Though my friend had his surgery done at another clinic, it sickens me to see this butcher working at a new clinic like nothing happened.
Because he is a plastic surgeon, I'm unable to get any sort of media attention. It's like he has a license to kill with no accountability at all. I'm beside myself. I've lost my friend and I don't know what to do. I can't get anyone to pay attention to this issue. They treat it like a normal complication just because he's a plastic surgeon. As far as I can tell, he's directly responsible for this and there is absolutely nothing that I can do about it.
I'm very frustrated. To see him continuing to work with no investigation is a hazard to the public at large. I think all plastic surgeons should be stopped from performing these operations with no formal training. That's right, I looked into it and I was shocked to learn that they receive no formal training in liposuction in school.
Their program does not train cosmetic procedures so they pick it up afterwards like any other doctor performing it. But when you talk to them they act like they're some sort of specialists in it. I wish I could do something about Dr. Jugenburg and I am disgusted at our medical system and our media for allowing this to go unnoticed.
How many more people are dying or in the hospital because of these animals? We'll never know because they treat it like any other medical procedure and won't give it any attention. It just gets swept under the rug quietly.
I hope somebody holds him to account for what he has done but I am not holding my breath. And Dr. Lista should be ashamed for hiring this quack. Dr. Lista is the Past President of the Canadian Society of Aesthetic (Cosmetic) Plastic Surgery. You'd he would know better...
