Repair Service HORRIBLE

So in February 2010 I purchased the Amana (Whirlpool) stainless steel fridge. In August 2010 I came home from a weekend away to find the entire contents of my freezer defrosted with about $100 of food that is sent to the garbage. I was unsure if this was something that I had done, or the fridge and made the MISTAKE of not calling for service. I unplugged the fridge for about 30 minutes and then it was fine.

Fastforward to October 2010, same issue with the fridge. Food completely defrosted. I call Whirlpool for service on October 28, 2010 (because this is clearly an issue with the fridge) and schedule service with their company Harmony applicances. The technician from Harmony schedules a time with me and says he will call on the appointment date for a specific time. I take a day off work, no call, nobody shows up, I call him and get NO RESPONSE.

I call Whirlpool to report this issue and then again the appliance is not working. They instruct me to unplug the appliance like last time to make it work again. Whirlpool says that they are now sending an actual Whirlpool technician.

Instead a "neighbourhood" technician shows up. He seems great and says that he can't see an issue at the moment. He gives me his business card and tells me that he will come back out, all I have to do is call, that this happens all the time and to make sure I keep calling.

THE NEXT day the fridge goes down again. I noticed it right away so I called the technician back becuase I am thinking that MAYBE this time I can save my food. The fridge turned back on as the guy walked in thus again he "could not find an issue". I get this and completely understand.

I call Whirlpool again to question them on what exactly they are going to do now as this is a continuing issue. The food replacement cost is nearing the original cost of the fridge. The gentlemen (if he can be called that on the phone) said that I must be lying basically and that if I call again that Whirlpool will be sending me a bill for the service call. So basically they are no longer covering my fridge under warranty even though this is within the first year.

I am disgusted by this and now cannot afford a new fridge (this is why I bought one with a WARRANTY in the first place) and am slowly sinking in wasted food.

And to remedy the food situation it was suggested to me that I stop buying food for the freezer.
