My Father entered a nursing home in Sarnia last October.
He had a sizable balance on an earlier Future Shop no interest contract for a TV. He requested that I call them up ;find the balance as of that day and then issue a cheque for the full amount. I agreed to do that and paid the reported balance off in the amount of $1562.40.
He has heard nothing until yesterday when someone called him at his Nursing Home stating that he had an outstanding balance and why has it not been paid. Being in frail health (87 years old) be became agitated and asked that I resolve the matter.
I called Future Shop Credit who stated that there are 2 balances on the A/C;one a Promotional Balance and the "Real" Balance. They acknowledged that there had been a misunderstanding and suggested that we pay half the existing balance of $151.11 and they would cover the rest. We (the family) feel very strongly that the Balance was paid and nothing further is due.
Also they had no right to call him at his Nursing Home when there was a note on his account that all communications should be sent to my address. There have been no statements issued from the date the balance was paid i.e. November 2005 till this week when they called the Nursing Home.
His name is Ralph and his Account Number is (deleted). Their number is 1-877-608-6607. We have no intention of paying them any more money but would be very appreciative if you could contact them and clear this up for us.
