Sent check for 4, 800. asked to cash it and send 2875 back for taxes via Wal-Mart money gram

I got a letter in the mail from Global Award Inc./International Finance Department Toronto, Ontario. In it was a check for 4800. I believed the check was a good check when the bank cashed it, so When the letter asked for 2875 in taxes I sent it per their instruction through Wal-Mart Money Gram. Turned out the Check was really no good and the bank took the money back where I was out the 2875 dollars.
