Folks,
I received a letter in the mail from PLUS FINANCIAL in my name which stated that I have won a Sweepstake conducted by NORTH AMERICA VACATIONERS for a Bahamas Cruise along with a Prize money of $20, 000 (US).
They also sent me a Cashier's check for $2990.90 drawn on Wells Fargo Bank, Reseda, California.
The letter also mentioned the name of Mr. Anthony Bryce who I needed to contact in order to claim the rest of the prize money. The phone number of Anthony Bryce as stated in the letter is 1-(780)-604-7867.
I called up the above number just to verify and there was this man with an accented english who spoke to me in a hurried manner and asked me to deposit this cashier's check and he told me that once it gets cleared, he will let me know how to claim the rest of the prize money amounting to $17, 000.
I knew this was too good to be true and so I called up Wells Fargo, Check verification department and they confirmed me that the Check was a fake one and Wells Fargo has been receiving verification requests from several customers.
They told me to contact my local law enforcement to report the matter.
Please let me know where how I can report this to the right law enforcement agency.
