Like many others who received this letter about winning an international lottery (one of 18), I was at first very excited. Then reality set in as I thought "this is one of those too good to be true" letters.
Unfortunately, I was right. As a disabled person deeply in debt because of my not being able to work any longer I hoped something would come my way to really help us get back on our feet.
I called the number as instructed & after talking with a Nicholas Ward & after getting instructions on how to receive my winnings ( $114, 000) I felt uneasy about it. So I called my State Representative & a friend of mine who is a bank president. I took the check into the bank & they indeed verified that the check was real, but they could not verify that there were any funds to cover the $2, 998.80 which were supposedly to be used by me to assist with the international clearance fees.
My friend, the banker, was perplexed because he was certain that the check was a fraud. I took the letter & check to my Representative who then proceeded to do some investigating & called me the next morning to inform me that his assistant had went online to "canada-complaints.com" & confirmed our fear.
While extremely disappointed that I did not win $114, 000 that would have helped get us back on our feet, I am grateful to "canada-complaints.com" for being available to help protect those of us who are so vulnerable. It's a sad world we live in that there are individuals out there who prey on the infirmed & elderly such as myself, whose sole purpose is to "rip us off". So, "Thank You" canada-complaints.com for being there for us. While hurting & disappointed, I can at least sleep a little better knowing someone cares.
