Ripoff - how can they get away with this?

Week ago, I received a letter from PPI saying I won US$65000 in the lotterry and they enclosed what appears to be a real check, which didn't look fake at all for US$1980. I did deposit in my bank account eventhough I knew that something is fishy about this. I wanted some proof of transaction gainst these gays. I attempted to call the so called 'claims agent' Miss Alicia Jackson. On the other side of the line it was indeed Alicia Jackson's voice mail.
