Honda West Calgary salesman wasn't honest when I asked if the price includes GST. He told me verbal that the total price included all taxes. I was under the impression that the Honda West car salesman verbally saying yes would be enough. I was quickly pushed into a situation where I was to put down a deposit for the car. I got the price I negotiated and I thought I was happy and still under the assumption that the price included all taxes as verbally agreed upon.

I was verbally assured that my deposit was to be fully refundable. Again this is a verbal agreement between me and the Honda West salesman. Only after my deposit and 24 hours later the story has changed and now the quote didn't include GST. I have done more research on this and from what I gather its a classic unethical Bait and Switch technique. The number I had was low, the Bait, but since the contract didn't have the tax terms or payment terms written the Honda West salesman does a Switch. Which is simply put Switch the agreement. In my case going against his word on the taxes being included and the deposit to be fully refundable.

The salesman from Honda West 24hrs after putting down my deposit told me on the phone when asked if I could get my deposit back, "No". That I signed a contract and he will not refund my deposit as the tiny type on the back of the contract, which I wasn't aware of, probably states something about non-refundable. I never did receive the back of the contract only the front.

The dishonesty of the Honda West salesman makes me feel sick. He had me believe he was a friendly person. We talked about personal stories and had a good laugh. 24hrs later when I disputed the contract over the phone he became very rude and raised his voice, this wasn't the guy I talked to just one day ago. They know they have a deposit and definitely have the consumer at their mercy.

Thanks for reading my situation. I just want to educated consumers of this particular unethical sales techniques and I went in this situation with my eyes wide open and educated. I never thought I could be the one in this situation as I always ask alot of questions and I still got scammed. Next time I will know better and after reading this I hope to help other in the same situation.

You can file a claim to ALberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council (AMVIC). As well legally you can dispute or cancel contracts in a short period of time.
